How to have an outdoor wedding in uncertain weather

So you’re having a wedding outside and you’re not sure how the weather will turn. But fear not, there are options. Firstly, if you’re expecting some cold weather then it’s essential to inform all of your guests in advance to bring coats and warm shoes. The sooner they know this the less backlash you might face and the happier everyone will be. Outdoor heaters and blankets will go a long way in terms of taking care of yourself and your guests, so it’s certainly worth discussing these with your wedding planners and venue. Finally, a space to retire inside to warm up could make all the difference, depending on where your venue is located.

However if it’s rain that you’re dreading, you have to take a few more precautions. The first and most obvious step is to hire a tent or canvas that your wedding can take place under in the event of rain. A lot of these come with floor mats too which will help your guests get back and forth without struggling through mud. Other than that, providing umbrellas and taking the same precautions as you would for cold weather should help mitigate any of the damage rain can do. Whilst rain on your wedding day might be disappointing, it’s best to make the most of it. Discuss incorporating the weather into your wedding photography with the photographer and make it as memorable as possible.

Finally we’ll deal with snow. Snow is going to cause a great many issues from travel arrangements to making it difficult to set the wedding up. If it does snow, a sturdy tent with outdoor heating is going to be essential to ensuring the wedding can go ahead. In terms of ensuring your guests can arrive in the first place, you’ll want to keep a close eye on weather reports and let your guests know of any problems they may face getting to your wedding.

And can we just say - an outdoor snowy wedding is simply glorious. Of all the romantic settings your wedding could enjoy, snow is by far one of the most picturesque. If you have managed the practicalities of snow, then this weather change could well be a blessing in disguise.
